One Coin at a Time
Each quarter, Community Coins identifies two local 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations to be the beneficiaries of funds we raise through both services and donations. For October through December of 2025, our partners are the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, the largest hunger-relief organization in central and western Virginia, and JackFest, an annual festival founded in honor of a local pediatric cancer survivor, and which helps support families in their battle against childhood cancer at UVA and throughout the region. Below, you can learn more about each of these incredible organizations and their impact.
A healthy community starts with food…
Yet 1 in 9 neighbors in the Blue Ridge is food insecure.
That’s why the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is working hard to realize its vision of nourishing food and good health—for everyone, every day. Last year alone, the BRAFB provided over 27 million meals to over 180,000 individuals.
Across our communities, the need for food assistance remains extraordinarily high. Lat year, over 52,000 people visited the Blue Ridge Area Food Banks for the first time. Economic uncertainty and policy shifts continue to affect how many of our neighbors access the support they need. These headwinds are real, and they remind us why the BRAFB mission matters more than ever.

It's about fun, community, and raising money to help families battling childhood cancer receive support and get cutting-edge care close to home in Virginia. Admission is FREE! Everyone is welcome!
This year’s JackFest will be held on Sunday October 26 from Noon to 4:00 PM at Foxfield, which is at 2215 Foxfield Track, Charlottesville.
JackFest has a wide variety of fun activities including:
Kid's running races
Middle & elementary school cross country races
Bounce houses, games & slides
Truck and emergency vehicle touch
Arts & crafts, including cartoon portraits
Food trucks
Local wine & beer for adults
